These 10 products are essential for a good skincare routine

A good skincare routine consists of a morning and an evening routine. But which basic products do you need for vegan skincare? Find out here.

Wanting to avoid wrinkles and achieve perfectly even skin tone? Then it's vital to establish a good daily skincare routine. This routine should be done consistently and correctly, but also with the right products. Here's a short list of what you need and why. 

1. Sponges and cotton wool

Did you know that on average we throw 1,200 cotton pads into the bin every year (per person)? We do need them for a good skincare routine, but fortunately there are sustainable alternatives to cotton pads. They come in many washable varieties today, which you can put in the washing machine with your clothes and reuse the next day.

2. A face roller

You have undoubtedly seen it before: the beautiful face roller. But how do you use it? It's simple: if you have puffiness or dull skin, the cool roller will instantly wake up your skin. Roll it over your face, and even use it to massage in the beauty products below. Tip: use it first thing in the morning and leave it in the fridge for extra effect.

3. Micellar water

Micellar water is 'normal' water with 'micelles' added. These are tiny soluble particles that help to remove dirt and thoroughly cleanse your skin. Micellar water is very easy to use: simply dampen a reusable cotton pad with micellar water and use it to cleanse your face. Ideal to start your skincare routine.

4. Cleansing milk or soap

Where micellar water cleanses the skin on the surface, use a milk or soap that is gentle on your skin. The foam or milk moisturises the skin during cleansing, which makes it feel extra soft.

5. Toner

After deep cleansing your skin, a toner provides a firm foundation that helps your skin to recover its cleansed surface. In addition, a good toner helps the following products in your skincare routine to absorb better and have a better effect.

6. Serum

A serum usually comes in a small bottle where you drop a few drops onto your skin and then spread the oil-like substance over your face.  A facial serum is a bomb of vitamins for your skin and gives it a healthy glow.

7. Facial cream

After the serum comes the face cream, and this usually comes in a day or night formula. A day cream is usually slightly less greasy than a night cream and often contains a sun protection factor.

8. Scrub

Ideally, you should exfoliate your face once or twice a week before going to bed, after your cleansing milk or soap and before your toner. Exfoliating fully opens your skin's pores and removes all kinds of dead skin cells and dirt. Doing it at night is the best way to protect your skin (because you are no longer exposed to outdoor pollutants) and allow it to absorb the mask you apply afterwards.

9. Mask

On nights when you exfoliate your facial skin, it's best to apply a mask after the toner or toner. This mask gives your skin a vitamin boost that is better absorbed by the opened pores. 10. Lip Balm

Your lips repair themselves, but those who suffer from dry lips should choose to apply a layer of moisturising lip balm at the end of their daily skincare routine.
